What we do
Provide services through partnership
OSW works with a variety of specialist homelessness and training agencies to provide a range of services, including job coaching, training, and job brokerage.
Conduct research and influence policy
Based on our research, OSW aims to influence policy makers, service providers and homeless people themselves, so that individuals can chart a clear, coordinated, supported route out of homelessness towards independence.
Pilot, innovate and develop good practice
OSW tests new approaches and generates new ideas, which are promoted widely to policy makers, service providers and homeless individuals.
Who we influence
By actively engaging with regional agencies, Government departments and European bodies, our aim is to influence policy that will better enable disadvantaged groups to improve their skills and access employment.
Where we work
OSW is based in London. While most of our services are also based in the capital, we are increasingly operating in other parts of England, including Tyneside and the South West.
1. Holistic long-term support for the most disadvantaged to enter employment and progress in employment.
The Right Deal For Homeless People “Working towards suitable, sustainable and progressive employment for homeless people”
• The Flexible New Deal takes steps in the right direction but doesn’t go far enough to address the needs or the aspirations of the most disadvantaged.
• What is still needed is a cross governmental Government policy/programme that addresses the well-known barriers in a flexible but effective manner.
• The Right Deal For Homeless People is a model of holistic, coordinated employment support for the most disadvantaged.
2. The WILLOW Project
Welfare influencing in London. This projet will specifically gather the voice of smaller and specialist organisations within the London area who work with vulnerable people.
