crack down on benefit fraud

Today the Conservatives announced plans to crackdown on benefit fraud; dramatically increasing the length of time people would go without benefits after their first caution. You can read the details here and our views here.
The previous week the Lords debated the 'one strike' and your out policy in the current Welfare Reform Act, nearly all Lords agreed that this is a suitable measure for deterrence and although it was raised that the percentage estimated to be under claiming is similar to the estimated numbers who are under claiming, there was no question about the amount spent on both of these issues.
