  • We are speaking at a number of 2010 Roadshow events in the lead up to 2010 to build our grassroots network. The first one is in Stratford Town Hall, 1st December. Find out more information here or contact Maeve for more information
     
  • We are supporting and speaking at this years TUC poverty conference for the International Day to eradicate poverty. The theme is to reform the welfare system
     
  • We are holding an event  to launch Need NOT Greed in Westminster on the 24th February 2009  for people to speak to MPs about their motives for working informally, what changes are needed in Welfare to help them formalise and what traps/barriers currently force peole to work informally. If you want to be involved or have particular issue you would like to raise, get in touch, join the facebook debate or pass on your views at  voices for change
     
  • We are beginning monthy support meetings for people working cash-in-hand. These meeting are to share their experiences and encourage people to get involved in shaping the necessary changes neeeded.
     
  • Transact National Conference- we will be giving a workshop on the informal economy and financial inclusion on the 21st November 2008
     
  • Chain Reaction on the 17th & 18th November 2008.
  • For the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty we ran a workshop at The TUC conference Challenging Povertism on the 17th October 2008. We raised  awareness about people working cash-in-hand out of need, not greed. The workshop created debate about the role of the media and government in stigmitising people on benefits and discussed what is a more approperiate method to harness the informal economy
